FOUND IT! "The best Japanese Cuisine in Orange County", "Best Quality Sushi in Orange County" and "OC's Best of the Best Sashimi and Sushi"... those are only a few of the ways I would describe this authentic, family-run 'Gem' in swanky Corona del Mar.
Nagisa, explained the wonderful hostess/relative name Nagisa means an atmosphere of the beach and the ocean. Speaking of the Ocean I think this meal was absolutely one of the best representations of sushi rice (perfectly seasoned and fermented) meets fresh fish, cut properly with the proper thickness and length from the proper location on the fish ... as they came together in what originally made me fall in love with sushi which was a real, fresh, raw...umami flavor.
Ask yourself, have the last few times I've eaten Sushi has it tasted like plastic and has it looked like food coloring? Sadly for many years now I have been answering that question yes. The sad truth is that most restaurants Japanese or otherwise are willing to give you one good piece of tuna to mask the rest of the Forsaken meal .. Nagisa harks to what has become a bygone era...beginning in the early 1990s, Sushi swelled in populwth+j+j9
overall quality of the food, the pleasant atmosphere and courteous and friendly staff -

Bad Experience!
Me and my coworker decided to stop in around 1pm on Wednesday of this week for lunch. Bad sign when you're the only customers there for the entire hour you're dining. First clue we should've been nervous. It look much too long to get menus and actually order. Like a solid 15 min and, again, nobody was there.
We asked if the rolls could come cucumber-wrapped instead of rice. That seemed like the first time they've ever heard that request and after much deliberation they said they could but would add $3.00 to every roll. Keep in mind their prices are super high for what you get. I wish I would've taken pictures of how sad these rolls came out. Since they were adding cucumber they made the executive decision to not put anything else in or on the rolls but the fish. No veggies, no sauce, nothing but cucumber and tuna. That's concerning when you're paying nearly $18.00 for a basic tuna roll (6 pieces at that).
Because the rolls were so skimpy we ordered a few more and in the end had a $135+ bill for lunch. Ouch! But that wasn't the worst of it.
About an hour after we ate we both had horrible stomach cramps which led to blowout diarrhea. I'm talking "Dumb & Dumber" moment. One after another. I could barely make it 20 min without abusing another bathroom. No vomiting so not entirely sure it was full blown food poisoning but for it to happen to both of us I would have to think it was a bacteria issue and food poisoning.
Needless to say I would advise steering clear of this restaurant. There are so many sushi places in the area to choose from that you'd be better suited to spend your money and your health elsewhere. -

Good food but very pricey. The service can be a little slow but extremely friendly. If you're looking to impress someone for sure it would work but if you're looking for decent priced sushi - even for the area - it is a little high

This place was amazing, but it wasn't because of the sushi. While the sushi was delicious, our sushi maker (if that's the term) made the experience worth while. Mino, our sushi chef, was so personable and easy to get along with, and was constantly trying to get us to stay (in a good way). While it can be a little pricey, the experience Mino gave me and my friend made it worth every penny. I can't wait to go back!

Best sushi in town. Always fresh and delicious. Great customer service as well. Our favorite place for date night.
